Peer Review Policy
- Overview
The LASU International Journal of Arts and Social Science Education (LUASSED) is committed to maintaining the highest academic standards through a rigorous double-blind peer review system. This policy ensures fairness, objectivity, confidentiality, and scholarly integrity throughout the review process.
- Review Process
- All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess suitability, formatting compliance, and originality.
- Manuscripts that meet basic requirements are assigned to subject-area editors.
- Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two qualified independent reviewers under the double-blind model.
- Reviewers evaluate originality, methodological soundness, clarity, contribution to knowledge, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Based on reviewer reports, the editor issues one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Accept with minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
Authors may be asked to submit revised versions for further evaluation.
- Reviewer Selection and Responsibilities
Reviewer Selection:
- Reviewers are chosen based on expertise, research experience, and familiarity with the manuscript’s subject area.
- Reviewers must not have any conflict of interest with the authors or the research presented.
Reviewer Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, constructive, and unbiased feedback.
- Maintain strict confidentiality; manuscripts must not be shared or discussed.
- Evaluate ethical issues, including plagiarism, data integrity, and informed consent.
- Recommend improvements that enhance clarity, rigour, and overall quality.
- Ethical Considerations
- Both authors and reviewers must adhere to international research ethics standards.
- Any suspicion of misconduct (plagiarism, fabrication, duplicate submission, authorship disputes) will be investigated following COPE best practices.
- Reviewers must report ethical concerns immediately to the editor.
- Timeline
- Initial editorial screening: 1–2 weeks
- Peer review process: 4–6 weeks
- Revision and re-review (if required): 2–4 weeks
- Final decision: based on completion of the above steps
Authors will receive notifications at each stage of the process.
- Appeals and Complaints
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written request to the editorial office. Appeals must clearly justify why reconsideration is warranted and respond to reviewer comments. Complaints regarding editorial conduct, review fairness, or ethical concerns will be handled confidentially and objectively by the Editorial Board.
- Transparency and Post-Publication Review
- LIJASSED supports scholarly transparency and allows readers to report concerns about published articles.
- Post-publication issues such as errors, ethical breaches, or misinterpretations may result in corrections, clarifications, or retractions, following established ethical guidelines.
- Authors are encouraged to engage constructively with post-publication feedback.
Final Notes
The peer review process at LIJASSED is designed to protect academic integrity, enhance research quality, and foster scholarly dialogue. All stakeholders, authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold the journal's values of fairness, rigour, and professionalism.
