IMPACTS OF PERSONAL TRAINING COST OF TEACHERS ON JOB QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN LAGOS STATE

Abstract

This study examined impacts of personal training cost of teachers on job quality and productivity in public secondary schools in Lagos State. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population of this study comprised teachers’ in selected public secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V. A sample of 250 participants was selected. Inferential statistics regression was employed to analyze the data. The coefficient correlation of the study is 0.87. Results revealed that there is a significant impact of teachers' personal training cost for professional development on job quality and productivity in public secondary schools in Lagos State (β=.701; F=.823; p< .03); there is a significant impact of teachers' personal training cost for higher qualification attainment on job quality and productivity in public secondary schools in Lagos State (β=.689; F=.775; p< .03); there is a significant impact of teachers' personal training cost for educational resources on job quality and productivity in public secondary schools in Lagos State (β=.400; F=.764; p< .05). It was concluded that there is a significant impacts of personal training cost on job quality and productivity in public secondary schools in Lagos State. In order to improve teachers' job quality and productivity, it is therefore recommended that the governments should provide adequate funding and resources to support teacher professional development, infrastructure, and educational materials to enhance the quality of education.
