Open Acess Policy

The LASU Journal of Multidisciplinary Nigerian Studies (LASUJMNS) is a gold open access journal, meaning that all published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication with article processing charges (APCs).

All articles published in LASUJMNS are permanently accessible worldwide, ensuring:

  • Free and unrestricted access for all readers
  • Increased visibility and impact of published research
  • Compliance with open access best practices and funder expectations
  1. Licensing

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), which permits:

  • Sharing: Copying and redistributing the work in any medium or format
  • Adaptation: Remixing, transforming, and building upon the work for any purpose
  • Attribution: Proper credit must be given to the original author(s) and the journal
  1. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

To sustain open access publishing, LASUJMNS charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance. The APC covers peer review, editorial services, production, and hosting.

  • APC Amount: Vetting fee ₦5,000.00; Publication fee ₦35,000.00
  • Waivers/Discounts: Available for authors from low-income countries or with financial hardship (upon request).
  1. Author Rights & Self-Archiving

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. Authors may:

  • Deposit the published version in institutional or subject repositories
  • Share the article on personal websites, academic networks, and social media
  • Use the article for teaching, conferences, and future publications (with proper citation)
  1. Archiving & Preservation

To ensure long-term accessibility, published articles may be archived through:

  • Institutional repositories
  • Indexing and abstracting platforms
  • Digital preservation services adopted by the journal in the future
  1. Compliance with Funder Policies

LASUJMNS supports compliance with major open access and funder mandates, including:

  • Plan S (cOAlitionS)
  • National and international research funder policies

Authors are responsible for ensuring compliance with specific funding requirements.

  1. Ethical Considerations

All published works must comply with COPE guidelines. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.
