Peer Review Process
The LASU Journal of Multidisciplinary Nigerian Studies (LASUJMNS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, fair, and constructive peer review process. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer review by independent experts to ensure academic quality, originality, methodological soundness, and relevance to Nigerian studies.
- Initial Submission & Editorial Check
Upon submission, manuscripts are screened by the editorial office to ensure compliance with the journal’s aims, scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards. Submissions that fail to meet these basic requirements may be rejected without external review.
- Assignment to Editor
The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Associate Editor evaluates the manuscript’s suitability for peer review based on scholarly merit and relevance.
- Double-Blind Peer Review
- Authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
- Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
- Reviewers assess originality, significance, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and ethical compliance.
- Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ reports, the editor will make one of the following decisions:
- Accept (with or without minor revisions)
- Revise and Resubmit (major revisions required)
- Reject
- • Author Revisions:
Authors are provided with reviewer feedback and given a specified period to revise and resubmit their manuscripts.
- Final Acceptance & Production
Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the editor (and reviewers where necessary) before a final publication decision is made.
- Reviewer Selection and Responsibilities
- Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, academic qualifications, publication record, and absence of conflicts of interest.
- Reviewers are required to:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations
- Declare any conflicts of interest
- Treat manuscripts as confidential documents
- Focus on scholarly merit and avoid personal criticism
